Our Purpose
A Family Commitment to Community Service
Established in Auckland, New Zealand, the EJ Foundation was founded by Ershad Ali and Julekha Ershad alongside their family to uplift the community, support youth, and deliver humanitarian relief.
With daughters actively serving in the New Zealand healthcare profession caring for others, the founders recognized the essential need for practical life skills, mentorship, and educational support among youth transitioning into adult life.
To guarantee that community support, youth development workshops, and humanitarian assistance operate with institutional continuity and transparent stewardship, they established the EJ Foundation as a registered New Zealand charitable trust under the Charities Act 2005.

The Ershad Julekha Foundation is a registered New Zealand Charitable Trust (CC63864). Official donation receipts are issued for all contributions. Online gateway donations generate an immediate digital receipt, and direct bank transfer donors can submit their transaction reference through our receipt portal to receive a formal receipt.
No. All 3 members of the Board of Trustees and the founding leadership serve in an entirely voluntary, honorary fiduciary capacity. Under our registered Trust Deed and the Charities Act 2005, zero private profits or dividends may be distributed. 100% of donor funds directly support workshop delivery, learning kits, educational grants, and humanitarian relief.
Our workshops are open to young individuals (typically aged 15–24) residing in New Zealand who are transitioning into tertiary education, vocational training, or the workforce. Priority is given to students seeking practical mentorship or financial literacy support. You can apply via our portal or contact the secretariat.
As a newly registered charitable trust (CC63864), the Foundation is currently in its inaugural operational period. In accordance with statutory timeframes under the Charities Act 2005, our first full-year audited financial statements and Annual Return will be filed with Charities Services NZ and published on the public register and on our dedicated Governance page.
